The Dining Room

1

Like I mentioned before, I am super stoked to have a dining room adjacent to the kitchen. Take the food out of the oven, put it on the counter. We’ll be eating like real adults and hopefully teaching Blinn to do the same. (I realize Blinn is not even 2 yet, but really, can we keep a little more food off of the floor, the ceiling, the clothes, down the pants???! We’re working on it.)

So the new apartment has a dreadful-looking ceiling fan in the dining room, and that’s one of the first projects I want to tackle after painting. I love the look of these large, chunky, modern pendents. I think the last one (which is from Ikea) fits our budget more. If we don’t go to Starbucks for a month. I might need help convincing Greg…

Exciting News!

3

We’re moving! Ok, so we’re only moving a block over. The 4th time we’ve moved in the last 5 years within a 1/2 mi. radius. But it’s to an apartment WITH A DISHWASHER AND A WASHER AND DRYER! I don’t know if I’ve ever been this excited. It’s like Christmas if Christmas meant you get to purge all of your junk, dream of new color schemes and redecorate a new space. Ahhhh… I love moving. No joke. I really love moving to new places, to Greg’s dismay.

So the new digs. What I’m loving so far:
1. Dishwasher (my first)
2. Did I mention my own washer and dryer? (also my first)
3. A back patio with room for a grill and table/chairs
4. A dining room area directly off of the kitchen, which mean the Connour Family will now begin eating meals at a real table like a real civilized family.
5. More closets and cubbies.
6. Newly remodeled kitchen and bathroom.
7. Lots of light in a roomy living room area.
6. Across the street from Tom and Jenni, two doors down from Jake and Dana, and across the street from the ice cream shop, my girlfriends at Salon 312 and Vivianna and her flower shop (and the Farmer’s Market on Tuesdays).
7. We can paint.
8. We can hang things on the walls.
9. We can paint.
10. We can hang things on the walls.
11. Did I mention we can paint and hang things on the walls????

So, much to post about these next few weeks. Decor brainstorming begins tomorrow!!

Just As Glorious

Remember that great gold ceiling from a few days ago? Well, here’s a silver version that is just as majestic!

Conversation Pit

2

So, if someday we ever buy a house or live in a residence we can remodel, I would love, capital LOVE, L to the O to the V to the E one of these groovy 70’s flashback “conversation pits” in my living. They’re sleek and modern and fun and absolutely ideal for conversation. Think of all the people that could sit in that thing! THOUSANDS! Not to mention it’s like a massive playpen. Mmmm… moms with coffee, lounging around, babies crawling back and forth unable to escape yet perfectly safe in a massive padded cage. HOW WONDERFUL!

Industrial Chic

2

So I do like some industrial decor things, as long as they’re softened down a bit. I also love to attempt, or think that I can make, things that are most likely out of my skill set, like say, beds made out of plumbing that probably require some welding and a ginormous saw of some kind.

What I’m confessing is that I am unrealistically optimistic when it comes to hand-crafting things. (Gotta love that can-do attitude though, right?)

So, with that preface, I could TOTALLY make these awesome beds

Some dear friends of ours just gave birth to a sweet little girl this morning.

Me-thinks she MUST have one of these. *Swooning*

Here’s a great site (I think it’s Chinese) where you can upload your pics to make them look old. Here’s Blinn and I via 1942. :)

Let Me Start By Saying…

2

I have to preface this post with a massive disclaimer: I AM IN NO WAY PROMOTING OR ENDORSING FAMILY MATCHING ENSEMBLES. Just to reinforce this basic fashion rule, here is an example of what can happen if you think if may be “cute” to all coordinate.

Ok, now that we have that covered, there are always exceptions to every rule. Here’s two such exceptions.

I love this apron set. I’m daydreaming about ALL the household work I would actually get done if I could just wear that great apron. And the matching one for Abilene. It’d be like osmosis right? I wouldn’t have to teach her how to clean, she’d just put on that magic apron and WHAM!, instant housecleaner.

And I have been coveting this matching pair of wellies since before Blinn was born I think. They are the Tattoo City design by Chooka. (Yes, I realize there’s skulls on them, and yes, I still love them!)

So match on with extreme caution all 3 of you reading this blog. (Sometimes it’s just fun to break the rules.)
