Sleepy Style

Raise your hand if you need a nap.

Raise your hand if you would like a pillow for that nap.

Raise your hand if you would like a cool pillow ring to assist you with your nap whenever the feeling hits you like a ton of bricks. Mmmm… I see that hand, yes, you over there. And you. And you….

Solid Gold Baby

There’s no limit to what you can do with a can of gold spray paint. Although keep in mind, recklessly spray-painting things in your house is never good. (Although I wonder what those collections of Precious Moments figurines sitting in your curio cabinets would look like ALL GOLD. Hmmmm…) But back to what I was saying, no getting out the paint can at 1am. (Or trimming your own bangs at 1am). Just stating the obvious so I don’t get blamed for any of your decorating disasters. So with the metallic trend is still going strong, here are a few of my favorite looks.

I love the gold splash of the ceiling light fixtures in contrast to the light dove grey paint on the walls in the picture on the left. I think you could make a DIY version of those light fixtures fairly easily. And I also love the Chesterfield sofa in the matching grey color. Classic.

(I don’t really like the room on the right at all, besides the grey paint. The fixtures look kind of Home Depot-ish to me. If it were possible to import that half of the picture into Microsoft Paint, I would put a big red X over it. You can do that visually if you wish.)

I love this simple gold chandelier decal on the white with the curtains. Very clean and classy! And decals are great for us apartment owners. Fun, dramatic and unstickable!

And this!!!! How much fun would it be to paint your whole lofty, beautiful ceiling gold!!!!! Ahhh!!! Note to self: find an amazing apartment with soaring embossed ceilings in free time.

Here’s something a little more doable. I think groupings of pictures in gold frames (or even wood) is a lot more interesting than the overdone black frame thing. I’m kind of over it. Don’t buy them at Target. Don’t get all your frames out and paint them black. Go for the gold!

And of course, the solid gold baby. Who can resist? Definitely not my daughter, Abilene. Pristine, angelic, American Girl Bitty baby or trashy $2 generic baby doll sprayed-painted gold? SOLID GOLD, BABY!!!

Living Wildly, Lightly, Slowly, Happily

One of my favorite sets of blogs comes from a friend, Sara Janssen. Matt and Sara and their little girl, Bella, live on the road in a bio-diesel RV, touring the country on their Live Lightly Tour. Sara has a wealth of information between 3 blog sites about their adventures on the road, living naturally, sustainability, eating well and all-around enjoying life!

Matt and Sara’s Live Lightly Tour site chronicles their adventures and the people they meet along the way.

Sara’s Happy Foody site is chock-full of great recipes to make all of our lives and little healthier, complete with gorgeous photos. (Sara is also a wonderful photographer!)

Sara’s personal blog is Walk Slowly, Live Wildly and has amazing links and resources for natural living, anti-consumerism, faith, decluttering and simple living.

I hope you enjoy keeping up with Sara as much as I do!

We Love Vikings!

Oooooh how we love vikings! (Minus the pillaging and terror and general viciousness) But when they look like this, how can you not resist??!! If we have a boy someday, let it be written in stone that his nursery will definitely be viking themed, and this guy will be the centerpiece!

And how incredibly adorable are these soft axe rattles?!

Welcome to SheDabbles.com!

or wait… Welcome to SheDabbles!

SheDabbles is the place to b…

errrrrr.

So whatever. This is a blog. I’m reluctant to claim ownership of it till it starts going somewhere. I’ll let you know when we reach that mark. So what’s this all about? Well, a little bit of everything, which is OBVIOUSLY the best way to reach an audience.  Vagueness and abstract thought.

So if you can handle it, this will be my mental, creative and research-ical dumping grounds. But it will be a lot prettier than that sounds. As eco-friendly as compost, as endearing as a cute tin toy boy full of non-plastic baby toys, as inspiring as my friend Jenni’s seasonal fashion collage and as _________________ as a ____________ full of _________. (Fill in the blank comments welcome below.)

Gotta go. The toddler’s screaming out a shrill mid-afternoon wakeup call. My time here is done. See you soon!
